How to become a charity trustee in Cornwall
Trustees are volunteers who share responsibility for how the charity is run. The Charity Commission’s guide The essential trustee explains what the role involves.
In short, charity trustees make sure the charity carries out its purposes for the public benefit, follows its governing document and the law, acts in the charity’s best interests, manages its resources responsibly, acts with reasonable care and skill, and is accountable for what it does. Trustees bring a wide mix of experience – finance, law, retail, fundraising, veterinary or community knowledge can all be valuable – and you don’t need to have been a trustee before.
Being a trustee is a rewarding way to use your skills for a cause close to your heart, and to help keep veterinary care affordable for pets and their owners across Cornwall. If you have questions before applying, call our Head Office on 01209 214 004 and we’ll happily talk you through what’s involved.
Becoming a patron
Patrons are ambassadors for Cornwall Animal Hospital. They help raise awareness of our affordable vet care, our five charity shops and our appeals, so that more people across Cornwall know where to turn when their pet needs help.
